With this publication, Olga Sugrobova-Roth and Eckart Lingenauber dedicate themselves to the works of the Russian-American painter, graphic artist and stage designer Boris Anisfeld (1879 - 1973). His work is characterised by a strong tendency towards stylisation as well as by his preference for the exotic, preferably in the design of oriental motifs. Anisfeld's work was influenced by Art Nouveau and the aesthetic views of the artists' association Mir Iskusstva. His works hang in the Art Gallery Chicago and the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, among others.
