In October 2012, VAN HAM Art Publications published the catalogue raisonné of the Russian artist Franz Roubaud (1856-1928), compiled by Olga Sugrobova-Roth and Eckart Lingenauber.
Franz Roubaud's position in the art world at the time is made clear not least by his prominent patrons such as Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria, as well as Tsars Alexander III and Nicholas II. In recognition of his extraordinary work, he was appointed professor in St. Petersburg and Munich, the centre of his life. His popularity was based both on the picture cycles on the theme of the Caucasian wars and his three large-format panoramas. One is the depiction of the Battle of Borodino in 1812, which Roubaud executed for the centenary of the Patriotic War. The 200th anniversary of the liberation of Russia and the reopening of the Moscow museum "The Battle of Borodino" provided VAN HAM Art Publications with the occasion for this publication.
