KI SETO TEA BOWL (CHAWAN).
Origin: Japan.
Date: 17th-18th c.
Technique: Light-colored body, covered with greenish yellow, matte, crazed glaze. Partly with darkened areas after firing.
Description: Tsutsu shape with vertical wall with turning grooves. The foot is cut in three places
(wari kodai). On the outside of the wall two standing cranes as stamps pressed into the
body.
Measurement: H.9.4cm, Ø 11cm.
Condition C. Broken and glued.
Provenance:
Collection Dr. Franz Haniel (1883-1965), since then bequest of the family estate.
