NETSUKE OF A DUTCHMAN WITH ROOSTER.
Origin: Japan.
Date: Early 19th c.
Technique: Ivory with finely engraved patterns, stained with black. Amber yellow patina.
Description: Standing and holding the bird in front of him with both hands. His robe is decorated with
an expressive dragon pattern, on his head he wears a hat with a curved brim and a feather,
his long pants are probably made of fur. On the back his hair hangs down long beneath the
hat.
Measurement: H.9cm.

German private collection, acquired at Galerie Flachsmann, 2010.
