RARE TEA CADDY FROM BURMESE LACQUER WITH BIRDS AND TENDRILS.
Origin: Japan/Burma.
Date: 19th c.
Technique: Bamboo wickerwork covered with black and red lacquer. Matching lid made from dark wood.
Measurement: H.11cm, Ø 7.2cm.
Signature: Matching wooden box (kiribako) with inscription: "70. Teebüchse aus Birma (Kimma) Lack".
Condition B. Supplement: Drinking cup. Red lacquer, engraved flower tendrils rubbed out with gold. Inside black lacquered. h.9,3cm, Ø 6cm.
Provenance:
Collection Dr. Franz Haniel (1883-1965), since then bequest of the family estate.
