In the gouaches and paintings of Berlin's public and city baths in 1999, Sarah Schumann focuses on historical bathing architecture, which often has a literary reference. The neoclassical city baths depicted here were designed by Reinhold Kiehl (1874-1913) and also housed a library when they opened in 1914 to combine physical and mental exercise.
